Brahms: Violin Concerto
Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5

Description:
Brahms music is deeply romantic, but Franz Welser-Most (Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra) says that it's important not to be too self-indulgent when playing it. Instead, recognize that Brahms shows the whole spectrum of what we can express, even fun. Of course, if you look a picture of Brahms stepping out of a cafe in Vienna, or with his arm around the waist of a pretty young opera singer, you realize that this bachelor-for-life knew how to have a good time. This week, Frank Peter Zimmerman, joins the Cleveland Orchestra in a great performance of Brahms' Violin Concerto.
