Description:
The Berlin Philharmonic just performed at Carnegie Hall last Wednesday (the 14th) and our microphones were there. This was part of a November festival called Berlin in Lights, put on by Carnegie, and the purpose was to celebrate the city of Berlin, Germany, today. For several weeks, all around NYC, there’ve been Berlin-themed jazz concerts, dance, and art exhibitions showcasing one of Europe’s oldest yet most vibrant cities. The capstone event was this concert by Berlin’s flagship ensemble, the Philharmonic. It was a great concert that combined both the monumental Das Leid von der Erde by Gustav Mahler and a hauntingly beautiful new work, Tevot, by Thomas Adés.
