Program:

Dukas: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
Dvorak: Cello Concerto
Description:
Antonin Dvorak's Cello Concerto is just about tops for anyone who loves the sound of the cello. Note for note, this Czech composer in the late 1800s created music that is still thought to be the most beautiful for the instrument . W hat made this performance special for the Houston Symphony's Music Director, Hans Graf, is the artist who played it with them . Graf told us that Yo-Yo Ma decided to play the Concerto with a daring simplicity. With any other cellist, this would have been seen as a lack of imagination, but Yo-Yo revealed a new power to this beloved piece.
