Week of December 31, 2007
Frankfurt Radio Symphony
Paavo Järvi, conductor
Lars Vogt, piano
Listen (hour 1)
Listen (hour 2)
Listen live from your local public radio station
Program:
Mahler: Symphony No. 10: Adagio
Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 27
Sibelius: Symphony No. 5
Description:
There is nothing more complicated than the simplicity of Mozart. The writing is sophisticated, with soloists playing long, quiet passages that could be embellished, but aren’t. That one man could write such intricate music, but have it seem as easy as a lullaby, is a true testiment to the genius of Mozart. No one is more aware of this than conductor Paavo Jarvi, who with pianist Lars Vogt and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, will perform the last Mozart Piano Concerto, No. 27.
